M12 HD User Update

The Mobapad M12 HD uses a power-saving design when connected to the Nintendo Switch 2 console. When the console enters Sleep Mode, the controller stops drawing power from the console to help reduce unnecessary console battery drain.

It can still be charged or powered while the console is active in handheld mode, while the console is active in TV mode, or independently with the Charging Grip.

All M12 HD pre-orders placed through Techyin will include the Charging Grip under the current arrangement. Read the full M12 HD user update for details.

Upgrade your handheld control

  • Drift-free precision: TMR Glide Sticks deliver a smoother and more refined thumbstick feel with zero stick edge contact, helping you stay accurate and consistent through long gaming sessions.
  • Balanced ergonomics: Designed specifically for Switch 2, the M12 HD shifts the controller’s centre of gravity toward the middle for a more natural grip and less hand fatigue during extended play.
  • Longer untethered play: Power-Saver Mode helps reduce unnecessary power draw, making the M12 HD more practical for longer handheld and wireless sessions.
  • Flexible play styles: Seamlessly switch between handheld and wireless modes, so you can move from portable gaming to a more relaxed setup without changing controllers.
  • Customised control: With interchangeable D-pad options plus Turbo, remapping and macro support, the M12 HD gives you more ways to tailor the feel and function to your play style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The M12 HD attaches directly to Nintendo Switch 2 for handheld play and uses Bluetooth when detached for tabletop or TV play. After updating both controllers to firmware 0.20 or later, the Home button can also wake the console. See the M12 HD firmware and wake-up guide.

The M12 HD uses the original Switch controller protocol and prioritises HD Rumble, NFC amiibo support and six-axis motion control. The M12S uses the Switch 2 protocol, adding a dedicated C button, nine-axis motion control and more convenient powered Sleep Mode charging, but it does not include HD Rumble or NFC. See the M12 HD vs M12S comparison.

The M12 HD can receive power from the Switch 2 while the console is active and Power-Saver Mode is turned off. It does not continue charging from the console after the Switch 2 enters Sleep Mode, so the compatible Charging Grip included with the current Techyin package provides an independent USB-C charging option. Read the M12 HD charging update.

Yes. The M12 HD supports HD Rumble, NFC amiibo scanning and six-axis motion control. Because it uses the original Switch protocol, some Switch 2 games may interpret gyro behaviour differently; keeping both controllers updated is recommended. Players who rely heavily on gyro aiming may prefer the nine-axis M12S.

No. The M12 HD has an M function button rather than a native C button, and it does not contain the optical sensors required for Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. GameChat can still be accessed through the Switch 2 system interface, but the M button is not equivalent to the native C button.

TMR Glide Sticks use contactless magnetic sensing and an internal glide structure to provide smooth movement while greatly reducing wear-related stick drift. The face buttons, D-pad and triggers use mechanical switches, so they feel crisp and responsive but are audibly clickier than standard membrane controls.

Yes. The M12 HD supports Turbo, button remapping, macros and programmable rear controls through the Mobapad App. The app is also used for firmware updates and controller settings. Find the app and official manual under Downloads & Manuals.

The current Techyin package includes the left and right M12 HD controllers, a compatible Charging Grip, controller storage case, replaceable D-pad and user manual. The included storage case is for the detached controllers; to carry the complete Switch 2 with the M12 HD attached, use the MOBAPAD H12 Carrying Case.
